Office 365 for a Better Productivity - BTKP D.I. Yogyakarta


As the follow up event on the implementation of Office 365 at Balai Teknologi Komunikasi Pendidikan (BTKP) D.I Yogyakarta that was conducted by Microsoft Innovation Center Yogyakarta. On November 3, 2015 until November 5, 2015 was held workshop on the utilization of Office 365 for communication and collaboration system at organization field. This workshop was attended by 20 staffs and technical team at BTKP Yogyakarta.  

In the introduction, the head of BTKP of Yogyakarta Singgih Raharja, SH.,M.Ed. delivered that one of the most important element in the success of organization is good communication and collaboration among teams. In this digital era, this event must be more optimized with the utilization of the existence of facilities and one of them is internet.  

The event that was done for three days consist of three key materials, such as introduction of Office 365 and these features, distance education with Office 365 and Office 365 portal for administration & management. First session was handled by Research and Education Advisor MIC Yogyakarta Dr. Ridi Ferdiana. In the material presentation, Ridi demonstrated a wide range facilities of communication and collaboration that can be found in the Office 365 tools.

Some of best practices was also presented relating to the implementation of Office 365 at education field. One of feature in office 365 is SharePoint Online that can be optimized for creating virtual class. Each participant also tried to practice a variety feature that was delivered by the facilitator. Most of participants also practiced to integration office 365 service with their computation and mobile device.

On session of “distance education with Office 365”it was delivered by IT and Education Specialist MIC Yogyakarta, Randi Eka Yonida. In this session, it was introduced various scenario in using some features in office 365 such as Skype for Business, OneDrive for Business dan Office Web Apps to create online class.

It was also practiced how to start online presentation, manage teaching resources in online and collaborative, and make students’ competence assessment through online. Some scenarios also were practiced such as a teacher or a student who wants to join a class by using a hand phone, up to strategies to overcome limited internet connectivity.

In the third session, some teams of BTKP got a training how to manage office 365 service autonomously. It was started by managing the users, service, and fixing some possible issues which might happen during the use of office 365. It is hoped that the implementation and maximizing the use of office 365 at BTKP became a starter and pioneer in order to be the best sample that can be replicated by school or other education institutions.
