Cloud Computing became one of the most influential technologies in the last decade. The flexibility and performance that promises can be attract the implementation of these technologies in various sub-sectors. As one of the largest university in Indonesia, Universitas Gadjah Mada feels the need to begin to touch the latest technology, to enhance the educational services that exist in it in terms of information and communication technology facilities.
Direktorat Sistem dan Sumber Daya Informasi (DSSDI) is the official sector in this university that specifically address the needs of information technology and communications. Working closely with Research and Innovation Division of Microsoft Innovation Center as a trainer, an integrated workshop entitled "Azure Everywhere" was held. This workshop focused on the introduction and exploration services Microsoft Azure as public cloud platform that can meet the needs of university cloud computing.
Azure Everywhere Workshop was conducted in four batches on different days at DSSDI UGM. The first batch was held on December 2, 2016, with the theme "The scenario Azure in the Real World". In this session, the participants discussed with the speakers about the benefits of Azure and its various features that can help an organization's productivity.
Continued in the second session on December 16, 2016, the material entitled "Azure Overview" was presented by the trainer. The second workshop focused on several things, first about the planning and designing needs of the organization and its fulfillment cloud computing using the features in Azure. In this session, the participants also followed the demo activation and access the Azure portal to understand the operating system in it.
The third session was held on December 20, 2016, the material focused on "Cloud Networking". Discussed about Azure Netowkring, Azure CDN Setup and Azure CDN Implementation become the main topic. In this session, the participants were targeted to have ability to apply Azure CDN, applying geo-traffic models that were used, as well as integrate with on-premise infrastructure.
The workshop was closed in last session that discussed about "File Storage". It was held on December 23, 2016, this workshop focused on immunization feature solutin Azure Storage, File Storage and Azure Azure SimpleStor.
The discussion and practice that were held in this integrated workshop is expected to give deeper idea about the use of cloud computing that is tailored to the needs of the organization. It is because the primary mission of technology utilization none other than to strengthen the performance of the existing system, while enlarging along with increased coverage requirement.
